As the title implies... I hit a stump. Right side lower A arm, tie rod and looks like shock are toast. Upon further inspection the lower A arm mount is cracked where its welded into the bulkhead. Havent gotten any farther into it yet.
As of now im not really sure what to do. I was going to just buy the parts and replace but im thinking I should maybe call insurance. Any thoughts?
That lower a-arm mount is actually called a subframe and can be replaced. I've done it and it is fairly straightforward.
Go to Babbitts.com and use their microfiche to look at the parts diagrams. I bet all the parts needed are under $1000 if you do the labor yourself. These winders are easy to fix and fairly cheap too compared to other makes.
The muffler can be bent open enough to get a socket on an extension and bang it back round. It this fails, cut off the exit and weld another.
Good Luck!!

Ended up being pretty pricey. Tunnel, front frame, all right side steering and suspension components, ski and muffler are all being replaced.
Damage was over 5k with shop labor (@110/hr) but adjustor says the value is there and doesnt have to be totaled.

Did you (or anyone else) bend a spindle? Shop thinks mine might be a little tweaked. A whole different story I have not yet disclosed. They look pretty solid so I never gave it a close look, its in the shop right now for the chaincase bearing. (warranty).

Ouch. Glad you had insurance. These things are really made to hit anything except snow flakes.Ended up being pretty pricey. Tunnel, front frame, all right side steering and suspension components, ski and muffler are all being replaced.

Bent mine last season hitting a rock. Visually it didn't seem bent, but I measured the angles. They do lose a lot of strenght when they're bent, but I pressed mine straight again since I couldn't wait for a new one. Still don't need one.Did you (or anyone else) bend a spindle? Nope I actually asked about that. Apparently the spindle is a cast aluminum piece and they normally break instead of bending. Not saying it cant happen, thats just what shop told me.

Yes I replaced a bent spindle from hitting something off trail. The impact jarref my hands off the bars. It was impossible to perceive without a straight edge but my ski was noticeably sitting at angle with the outside edge higher than the inside edge.Did you (or anyone else) bend a spindle?
