I remember hearing lots of problems connected with the electronic shock on the GT so I had kinda decided to buy an RTX, but the skid, seat and graphics changes make the 07 RTX less appealing to me. So I am back to looking at the GT.
Have they made any changes to issues that plagued the shock, chaincase, or grips?

New grips are fine and work good. Chaincase affected a very small minority of riders. Probably not enough riding time this season for feedback on the shock due to the poor snow conditions.

Though I have only ridden mine on the ice for 5 miles, I can tell you that I believe the rear spring problem may have been addressed. When I set my spring up for my weight, I did not have to adjust it much and had plenty of spring left. I weigh 220 with gear and most had said last year they were out of spring at that weight and needed the larger one. The chaincase is different on on the 07's. Look for the post by 87gtnos, he shows last years and this years cases. I did not see any problem with the routing of the electric shock wire in the skid on my 07GT.
07 improvements on the GT
1. hand warmers
2. tunnel bracing
3. snow flap improvement
4. far more compression dampening on Ohlins shock
5. chain case cover
6. taller windshield
And some say Yamaha doesn't listen ?!
