I think I've narrowed down my culprits. Clutches are in need of an overhaul and my skis where toed in by 3/4". I've ordered some low mileage clutches and toed skis out to 1/2". not sure if the skis made much of a difference but it should handle better.

How many miles on the sled?? I wen't back and looked but didn't see...the reason I ask is these clutches are pretty good so would wonder why yours are so bad they aren't rebuidable??..check your bearings out real good to make sure jackshaft is tight. Might check the motor also to make sure it isn't moving some.
Wifes 06 Vector GT gets between 17 and 19 depending on conditions. Pretty good I think...

13,700 miles. I will rebuild then and then sell them. I just don't have time to do the rebuild now. Bearings where regreased this seaon. I've done quite a bit just to see if I like the Attak.
My wife is getting sick of me working on the sled. she even called and got herself preapprove for a new sled for me. I'm not ready to put the Attak to the side yet. I believe it's the rite sled for me. January, feb and march will be the real test.

I changed out the clutches and the belt wear problem is gone but the fuel consumption is the same. It's me and my thumb war. My buddy was only getting 13mpg, which is down from his 15mpg. so I'm probably better even though its the same

Most people change there slides out way to early, its when they get worn in, to the point that most change them, that is when your top speed is best, and milage to. If the slides look bad leave them in,in most cases, they wont melt any more now that you are on the wheels most of the time,we run alot of long lakes,on very little snow cover lots of time, and slides wear quickly, but once they get to the wheels, thats it,and everthing improves, top speed, and milage, and if you are clutched stock, your milage will be better than if you chutch for quickness. But like turk said,hp and speed, cost you at the pump, and snow conditions mean alot as far as milage is concerned.lawmanbsi said:Really, I'm having trouble with the idea that I corrected the worn out components and didn't get better gas mileage.

I used to get an honest 17 mpg when my Apex had less than 5000 miles on it. It has slowly dropped every year since, and is now at its lowest average of about 14 mpg...sometimes 15...sometimes 13. When I run a snow covered lake or reservoir for seven or eight miles, my MPG will actually drop to around 12.

Hey thats awesome I would love that, I'm at around 11. I just stop and get fuel whenever I go by a station even if to top off a few bucks. I was joking earlier in the post but I didn't realize how bad mileage I get. Thats what ya get when you like to drive fast though. Guess I cant really complain

My quest for better fuel economy is pretty dead. I'm planning on extending the tunnel and mounting a gas can to it. 2 gal can will get me 22-24 miles. That will extend my range to match the other sleds I ride with.

Try synchronizing the throttle bodies. Also I only get 12.5 with my apex LTX, but I have the extra tall windshield, mirrors and a ton of ski pressure.

'09 LTX 1700 miles. X-Tall windshield, mirrors, 4th wheel kit, mid wheel kit, original hyfax, and probably 350 lbs w/gear on. I get 13-14 mpg. I've heard as high as 18 but no complaining here.
