How hard is it to balance the carbs on an RX-1

I have the Morgan Carb Tune....took about 20-30 mins. Pretty simple. Carb tune instructions made more since than the manual. After getting my sled back from dealer (carb deep bowl update) it idled like #*$&@. Threw the carb tune on her and #1 carb was way out. Dosen't seem to matter the order you tune.....just make small adjustments each time you do.

How much is the tool

To encourage more people that purchased my air kits to not overlook this very important step, I am offering a discount to TY members.

There are 2 different ones. The cheaper of the 2 is $42.95, the more expensive one is $77.95.

I suggest the more expensive one as it is the very same one we use in our shop and with the discount, the price becomes $70.15 plus freight to you.

E-mail me at KliesECP@aol.com or telephone me at (203)756-7019 if you want me to send you one. I have them in stock.

Freddie,

The ones your selling. Are they the Mercury type. If so, I do not like them. They work great but I have had 2 and lost the mercury out of both by dropping it or falling off the tool rack.

If you have not seen the morgan carbtune then you should check it out. I have one and by far it is the most compact, best put together one I have found. Not knocking your becasue I have not seen them but the carbtune is hard to beat. It uses Stainless steel rods that are spring loaded. It has nice rubber hoses and includes fittings to fit most carbs. I even use it on my Yamaha four stroke outboard.

I agree, people running your ECP filter kits need to sync the carbs after install becasue it make a world of difference. It's like the differnce between a worn out belt and a new one.

 Can you guy's explain how this tool works? does it go to each carb and give you like a vacuum reading of some sort. I didn't think you need that stuff anymore the way machining the products are these days.

Hey Iron Dog, what parts of Alaska do you ride in? My wife and I went there in June for our honeymoon. We'd like to live there. Seward was nice and cool, not hot like Anchorage and Denali. The near 24 hrs of dark would be tough on me.

HRD, anytime you modify your carbs (ie new jets, adjust air screws, etc.) I would highly recommend synching your carbs. In a nut shell, you are baiscally ensuring all four (or three or two) carbs are working in perfect harmony. Sure, it may run w/o doing it but not up to par. You would be surprised in how much of a world of difference it makes. I have the Motion (or Moto) Pro mercury filled synch tool and have not had any issues with loosing mercury. Of course, you do have to be careful to not drop it or lay it on its side but I always thought mercury filled ones were more accurate but I could be wrong

I use a 4 carb mercury unit and once filled it will not loose mecury. If I drop it the mercury will separate but it will eventually re mix.

They are supposed to be the most accurate.

You will not believe how far our the factory set-up is.

I have seen the Morgan but never worked with one. When you have such great luck using a certain tool, you tend to stick with it. I like the mercury because to seems to be a lot more sensitive.

Sorry to hear you are so clumsy. :p
