Ripsaw or no ripsaw???
That's the million dollar question!!
The ripsaw seems to be a hot running track - depending on your conditions and how you ride.
I absolutely love the launch it gives, the cornering (beveled edges) ie: I can go down the lake(ice) on a 45 degree do circles without slipping etc.
Some guys said it tears - I've teared mine in 5000km's.
I have landed wide open throttle on stumps, rock etc.(it's not made for that)
On tight trails(lotsa curves) not too many tracks touch it for traction.
The other thing 1.375''s will hurt the tunnel without protection or your exhaust system! Even with protection - the studs will wear your top shock mount and the bottom of your tranfer rods on 05's,06's & 07's.
My solution was to get an ice ripper(36lbs), no weight penalty, better cooling and no more damage! O3 & 04 owners need not worry about this
as studs are typically shorter due to track profile, more clearance in tunnel because of this and a better skid arrangement which is a lot more condusive to studding.
I like my 05's ride, transfer but the 03 & 04's are faster for skid and track reasons.
There are alot of different recipes & opinions out there - this is just my own 2 cents and observations so far!
One more thing - heat can be controlled with a longer Ski-doo Flap which holds the snow inside the tunnel better. This absolutely eliminates the damage done by heat by 95%!! So if this is why you are thinking of changing tracks - maybe try this out!
