I am putting a 1.75 track in. I removed the tunnel protectors. The Tunnel protectors are 13/16" thick and the brackets are 3/4" thick. That being said, I need about 3/4" spacing to make the exhaust plate low enough to clear the headers. Do I need the 1 1/5" clearance that I gain by removing the protector and brackets? Or can I use the 13/16" square tube as my spacer to rivet the block off plate to?

Where are why are you adding a block off plate. To protect the headers/ exhaust pipes? Not a bad idea, but prob overkill. Most guys just leave it all open down there. Unless you are spinning your track really loose the track won't hit the exhaust pipes under there.

well arent you two just a plethora of good info LOL. Im just kidding. From my measurements putting the square tube and the diamond plate back in wont drop it down anymore then the tin the headers go through.
The only reason I even thought of a block off plate was so when the ice builds up and drops down. It wont use the heat ex-changer as a giant Ice grader. Maybe the best solution is to pop the suspension after stopping, back up and then go forward.
