How much gas should there be on the tank when hauling it on a trailer I going north 5hr drive there is just under a half tank is that ok or should I drain some out????

I fill mine right up to the white plastic insert before trailering it up to Northern NH (3+ hours), never a problem.

EDIT: My fathers 2-smoke Polaris will flood if you fill the tank before trailering, you can see the gas coming out of the overflow tube that wraps around the handle bars. That is probably what you are thinking of, I never had that problem with the RX-1.

I always try to fill mine before we leave, it is cheaper at home. LOL Maxdlx

I fill it to the top and nerver had a problem, sometimes traveling 10 hrs. with alot of hills and turns.

On the older Rx-1 there were a few owners that ruined their motors by gas filling the engine. The jigeling around in the trailer let the gas go by the pumps, and filled up the lower end. When reaching the destination they would try to crank the sled up. Gas doesn't compress very well, in turn killing many interior engine parts. Many first time four stroke owners in 03 installed two fuel line shut-offs. The owners manual said in 03 to not trailer with a full tank. Could be a costly mistake! Install fuel shut-offs! and use them! Good luck!

Have fuel shut offs on all my sleds, better to be safe then sorry. Also a anti-theft back up if one should be stolen, they wont get far until it runs out of gas. Had a John deere 440 cyclone thirty years ago fill the motor with gas after trailering, could not pull the rope until plugs pulled and then fuel shot several feet in the air. Been running shut offs ever since. Of course now getting old amd absent minded, forget to turn on once in awhile. lol

I always trailer as empty as possible. Just a habit. I have seen motors fill up. I don't want anything to do with that.
