I have been searching but cannot find anything on my problem. I have an 09 Vector that started making noises like the chain was popping and jumping when I am on the throttle. When I go slow its just a constant thumping. I adjusted the chain tension then took it for a ride with the panels off and realized the brake disc appears to be what's making the noise. I can rock it from side to side and turn it slightly. Is it normal for this to be loose or is there a deeper issue I should be looking into?

yup you got some deeper looking to do. check track tension, or condition of your drivers. we had 4 vectors and the 08's have 16000km on em and the break discs have been sloppy since they came home. if it was the break disc it would only happen on deceleration. did you have the cover off the chaincase? whats the condition of the chain?

I'm gonna have to pull the chain case cover and take a look. I have 7000 miles on the sled. I tend to run the track a little looser than most. I got 5000 miles out of the original slides.

Did you try a different belt? Sounds like maybe a flat spot? Bad belts do weird things! Trust me! LOL!!

After you adjusted the chain did the sound go away?

The sound didn't change after I adjusted the chain. I took it for a ride and as I was moving I could see the brake disc wobbling. I'll try throwing a new belt on just to see though.

As a previous poster said, the disc wobbles but it's always between the pads so it shouldn't be causing the problem..

I'm gonna dig into it a bit more tomarrow and see if I can come up with anything. I'll probably put new brake pads on just to be safe as well.

Let us know what you find RS, hopefully it is nothing serious? ;)!

Will do. I haven't had a chance to work on it this week. Hopefully tomarrow.

I'd love to see what it was?? Mine seems to be having the same issue last year had bearing replaced new belt chain fluid looks great etc... but going slow sounds like chain is popping or not meshing right chain tension is perfect At a loss still still performs fine

What year and which model? I don't remember the exact years but on the Vector's with the Monoshock skid without the front limiter strap, you could get a clunking in the front of the skid while going slow over bumps. Just a thought!

Well today I went out to work on the Vector. First order of business tighten the track up a bit. I started to turn the nut on the track tensioner and immediately snapped the bolt off. I put down the rachet and came back in the house before I push the sled off a cliff.... so no new news on the clunking as of yet.

I had the same thing happen to my 03 Viper after 3500 miles on the oem belt. Belt looked ok, but after changing the belt, the noise went away and never came back.

I've been through a bunch of yami belts, I think I have 6-7 delaminated ones in the garage. I've been running Ultimax belts and they last a long time, I did try changing the belt out and that didn't change anything. I was hoping that was the problem. I was thinking today that maybe the track was slipping so I wanted to tighten it a bit, I just ordered the part I broke...
