I think MPI says they recommend 100% 110 race fuel with a stage II. I'm wondering if anyone plans on running any less than that, like 50% and if you think it'll still be safe? If you get the pistons done and run 50% 110, could there be any potential issues?

Anyone look that far ahead and figure out how much race fuel you gonna run? MPI says 100% for stage II S/C. But how come at the same boost level of a turbo, people run 50%? I know MPI
takes the stance of being more safe than sorry. But what do you guys really think is the right amount for a stage II S/C? But I guess race race has risen in price as much as regular/premium.

I am sticking with stage 1 50/50.
220 horse and nos is enough for me in the mountains, especially coming from 137.

From what I hear race fuel is about the same price as premium right now , around 3 dol. a gallon I would go buy 2 drums of it .......but I am gonna run 100 LL

Does the Apex come with a 02 sensor for the EFI? If so won't the lead in the av gas foul it up?

I'll be checking that , if so I'll buy an extra sensor for when that one goes out , I ran all last winter with an o2 sensor for my air / fuel guage and it didn't fail .

I'm running 100 pecent 100 LL 15 - 16 psi at sea level 13 -14 psi in the Mtns . about 5000 feet .

0.54 headgasket - same thickness as 2 headgaskets.

Tim, so your gonna run 100% 100 octane on your apex? How much boost?

Yep 100% 100 Low lead
I'm gonna start out at 12 P.s.i til I get used to it and get the engine broke in and then crank it up to 15 -16 .

So why the difference in fuel requirements from a S/C and a turbo? Is 100% race really required for 16lbs boost on a S/C? Or are the manufacturers just trying to be over safe?

Notice that I used a thicker head gasket than stock to lower compression , I wouldn't crank it up that far if not for that .

Yea, that can be replicated on a SC apex too. Along with pistons/rods, but they still say 100% race

Tom, the boys at MPI are being overly cautious to cover their own #*$&@. They don't want to say go ahead and run less than 100% race fuel and have some guy come back bitching because his sled seized up when he got a bad batch of premium mixed with race fuel.

I will be going with a Stage II next season and will be running 100LL Av-Gas with pullies in under drive and C-12 race with the pullies in over drive just to be safe. with the rest of the engine being stock.
