It time to tinker again and I need to make a track length decision - need some input! I originally had the 151" on my rx-1 which was ok but not enough track in the deep and steep. I went up to 162" now and like it, but haven't tried it enough to really know more. I just picked up a RX with Stage 1 SC and it's a 121" which is coming out asap! I find the 162" too long for my local riding, but it is workable. With more power can I get away with less track, or should I just go 162" again?

There's an awesome deal on a 144" expert x and tunnel in classifieds. 144" x 16" track could be ok possibly in the Mtns?

There's a few 151" pro mountain skids out there. 151" x 16" track I like.

There's tons and tons of Nytro 153" out there. 153" x 15" Maverick I like (wish it was 16" wide)

There's a few 162" pro mountain skids out there. 162" x 16" Maverick I like.

Riding location and style is going to be the big deciding factor, but I'll give you my two cents. I went from the 151 up to a 153 last year and honestly didn't notice too much of a difference. This year I am going to go with the 162x16 maverick, with mindset of embracing the horror! The RX has a great engine with tons of power and torque so I figure I might as well put as much track under it. Considering I don't do too much trail riding, a big footprint is fitting for off-trail riding. If I were you and a 162 has worked out so far, get that 16 inch wide monster. Maybe consider a rider forward mod as well... I am in the process of putting one in... It sounds like it make a big difference in handling and getting that weight to go where you want.

Another item to consider is type of snow you ride in if its usually setup or wet heavy snow a 144x16 will be fine. You would be surprised what you can do with a 144.

I have rider forward on my RX-1, and like it. It's quite far forward, on this one I am going to have Wildchild make a modified stock post to bring the bars forward without moving the steering post. I am leaning towards 153" just because I will be riding more locally in avg snow. I found the 162" tough to ride here as it hooks up hard if the snow isn't deep.

Can't go wrong with the 153" tracks all the Manufacturers are going there just a great al around mountain track.

Cheers.....

I am really intrigued by the Expert X, just not sure how deep snow performance would be with a super charger and only a 144". I wish the 153" maverick was 16" wide and the decision would be easy!

i just put an MPI Stage 1 on mine and i hope my 162 is enough. i would never run anything less
