How to measure helix angles

Here is how I measure helix angles.
After doing a few you will get very good & very accurate at measuring any helix angle with in 1 degree.
You need a $10 angle finder with a magnetic base; a nut & a flat table.

stick the nut on the magnetic base
Keep the nut very flush to the helix ramp & read top angle on dial indicater.
Practice on a known helix so you will know exactly how the nut sits on the ramp.
Take readings top & bottom to give you dual angles.
You can also check the ramps midrange to see if it,s aggressive(keeps a steep angle longer) or a non aggressive cut(shallows out quicker).
After doing a few you will get very good at reading any helix & will allways be with in 1-2 degrees of the actual angle.
