Hey There,
I'm thinking of grabbing a Ram Mount and using my 255W on the sled. Question is, how bad of an idea is this? I picture the device getting ruined the second snow hits it.
Looking for opinions from people who've tried it.
thanks.

I don't think you'll have a problem, but I posted some more info to your question in the GPS section..

Mine works great novi with a ram mounter to my riser block. Looks clean just drilled and tapped the riser with handle bar mount

I've been using an Oregon 200 for the past several years. It's worked really good. Unfortunately it's haveing issues with the power input USB port. Garmin will fix it for a $100. However, I can get an used Nuvi off Craigslist for $50. At gpscity.com I ordered a Ram Mount cradle, delivered for $11. I already had the mount and arm. Nice thing with the Nuvi you can go back to the street maps and get turn by turn direction to the nearest gas station/town. Looking forward to the bigger screen too.

Another thought maybe? I have been told by the sales person that you have to be careful not to let the unit get to cold because the crystal or some kind of liquid that is in the screen will freeze and crack the screen? True or not I am not for sure someone might chime in?

With the power adapter plugged in it keeps itself warm. I've always taken it in with me when I'm not riding. Besides that I've never taken mine out of the truck. I'm pretty sure I've been down to -18*f. So take it for what it's worth.
there are waterproof cases available now, so snow should not pose too much of an issue. Here's a couple of examples:

Mine has been to -30 or there abouts with out issue. Screen is slow when it first gets going but after a bit it warms up and runs fine.
