I have 2009 XTX and I want to run a 2" track for a trip out west, question is do I really have to change my drivers to extroverts? I have never heard my track rachet even on radar runs and I keep almost as tight as spec

I would say you will just have to try it and see. I spent a lot of time on here reading before I switched to my Backcountry and some say its a must to get extroverts and others say they haven't and don't experience ratcheting. The consensus I found was that if the sled is boosted it is a must but probably 50/50 if they are needed on a non-boosted sled. I opted to stick with stock drivers as it wasn't in the budget to get extros yet, haven't ratcheted yet but let me get more miles on to give you an more honest opinion

The XTX doesn't have the ratcheting problem like the RTX (shorty) has. So, I think if you run your track good and tight when you're out west, you should be fine.
If you don't have wider skis, I'd invest in a set of those for your trip. Keep your front end from sinking in the snow. And a Tunnel block off plate...to help reduce the snow/ice/slush build up in the tunnel. Just some tips I figured out when I had my nytro out in wyoming.

My buddy runs an XTX with a 1.75 out west without extros and it doesn't give him any trouble. I don't think the 2" will make that much difference. That being said I'd keep it fairly tight.

I have extroverts on mine, but l tend to run the track a little looser. As mentioned in the previous posts, as long as you keep the track tension adjusted to specs you should be fine
Also don't forget to gear down and adjust your clutching to elevation.
If the snow is deep powder
pulling up the limiter straps a couple of holes will reduce the track aproach angle, which helps reduce trenching.

I got a 2" track in my XTX and no drivers.
And i got McX 180 kit. Never ratchet.
I used 19-40 gearing when it was stock.

Drop 2 teeths on top. That way you land on 19/39.
