I need opinions on options.

What about a 1.5 in track with 1.450 studs ? Whats a good place easy too look at and price tracks?

studs are not effective if they are shorter than the track........... Rent if you can.

Out here in the Rockies it's about $350.00-$450.00 per day, depending what you want. Most of the time it's 800 Summits.

Holy Cow. We're renting sleds in Jackson Hole and It's $175/day plus ~$16 for insurance.

I think we rented a suburban, 5 place trailer and 5 ski-poo 800's for 3 days for just over $3000

175 sounds good

Rent one, less hassle to get it out there and while out there. Pound the piss out of it and leave it for the next guy.........almost seems like college all over again :jump:

If this is going to be a one time trip I'd rent. If you are planning on making it an annual trip then I'd pick up a 2" track and swap it back and forth. You can usually pick up a lightly used track for under $300, and often closer to $200. While you a doing the track swap drop in a 19t top gear.

Renting in the mountains is usually around the $200 mark give or take depending on the sled. Another option is to check with your insurance provider, you might be able to buy better coverage for the rental. (That is the guys in my group do)

As far as swapping goes....I used to swap my track back and forth from a 121x1.75 to a 136x2 but now I just run a 136x1.75 in the flatlands and the mountains. It works well for me but If you are a full time trail rider that runs studs, a 1.75 is a different animal, I'm not sure your'll be happy with it if you like studs.

What good would the studs be if the track lugs are longer than the studs?
Tracks USA is a great place to check track prices and view the tread.

It all dependends where your going how much rentals are.
By the snowies most rentals are 180-210 a day.
By west yeallowstone the 800 poo and cats are 220 a day not shure about smaller sleds. If your going to make an annual trip the best thing would be to get a 144x2" track.
