Went out for a ride last night with 625mi on the Viper-LTX. Temp in the mid-20’s. trail conditions were mixed with groomed and non-groomed trails.
At or about 650mi this thing just started pulling harder and harder out of the corners. When I stopped and checked hole-shot because I’m also working on a clutch setup with 8dn belt, all was good and more. WOW! I think this sled just woke-up! Total miles now = 715 with a big smile.
How can someone possible think of working today when you know that this sled is just breaking in/loosening up.
Also, yesterday I got a box with some Go-Fast-Products - Oh-Boy... Oh-Boy... Oh-Boy..

What is your top speed
Mine did right before 500. Once it does you just can't put it down

Got it into the mid 90’s easy on some quick pulls from 60~70mph. I did see 102, but had to let off because I was on a rail bed with trees close and it was dark. I was more impressed how it pulls off a 30~40 corner up to 70~80, back down then back up their again so easy. Did not do that before last night. This tells me clutching is key with this sled. I also have Vector LTX that I grass dragged a little and learned that this 4-stroke triple can be tough to clutch and setup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97Kn4KJyc24 We don’t have the benefit of a motor that revs high like an Apex where the motor can push itself past small issues with clutching or conditions.

Hi Tim - I have about 8 used 8dn belts from various sleds and race sleds I’ve have/had over the years. The 8dn has two versions 00 and 01 and is a part of the equation of the total clutch package I’m trying out. NOSPro/Terry has a different sled than me. I’m studded, he is not (LTX vs XTX). You have a Turbo for the Viper, I don’t (not yet anyway). Do I miss my turbo, sure I do, but I got this sled for a number of reasons. I agree the 8dn makes this sled smooth and predictable like an apex, but this sled is touchy when it comes to the clutching changes. Maybe it’s the lower HP and limited to 9000 rpm vs. a Nytro that gives us additional RPM to work with past 9000. Never has a simple belt change been a fix to a problem with a Yamaha snowmobile like this. I still believe there are and is a better clutch package than stock for this sled. I dabble with what I have and go from there… I believe that miles and my changes to clutch package helped make the 8DN work and work well. Before last night, I went out I felt like I could not get the RPM over 8300 and MPH over 70, I was bummed (with the 8dn). But, now with these changes as a package it looks like the 8DN will stay race a few guys I know and take it from there.that miles and my changes to clutch package helped make the 8DN work and work well.

Sounds good. I did have some clutch work done with all Yamaha parts. Blue silver blue primary white white secondary and a straight 47 helix. Im around 8500 to 8600 rpm pretty good. I have enough hp to pull hard, but I might change to get some more rpm to see 6 pounds of boost. But its much better with the 8DN belt I went through 4 8JP belts before I went with this belt.
