How does everyone keep or get rid of the ice in their tunnel? I use a hammer at the start of each day but leaves marks if not carefull. Just wonder when folks are on a tour and don't have a hammer. That ice has to be hard on stuff under there.

I try and get mine into a heated garage. If at the lake I always overnight on a stand. Before going in when it's on the stand give it some gas and spin the track. Outside of that lift back end up and drop a couple times to loosen parts then get on and rock the suspension side to side loosen up.

At each stop we make during the day I kick the edges so the ice falls out. At the end of the day park the sled. Come back in an half an hour or so. The heat from the exchangers will have melted some of the ice and then it comes out fairly easy with a few taps from the boot. If you wait till the next morning it is a lot harding to get the ice out.

What is your ride?
Before my exhaust extension/shield I would use a rubber mallet with no worries of damaging things. Right now with the Venture TF it is not such a big problem as with the VL.

Rear heat exchanger will work wonders for you. Helps keeps the temp down in warmer weather and does prevent the large ice build up on the tunnel extension.

This is my 2012 Apex xtx. The ice build up is a joke. Yamaha please get rid of the under seat exhaust!

Wow seriously ! looks like your :drink: stuck right there .

Not saying this is the fix all but I was watching my wife cook the other day and thought, I wonder if Pam would work. Long story short she picked me up some Pam grilling spray and I coated the inside of the tunnel and all I got after a days riding was a thin coating of ice. Nothing like before. And I haven't caught fire yet lol.

I was just thinking about using pam cooking spray the other day, then realized the crap I would get in if she noticed it was missing. I'll have to grab a can tomorrow and try it.

slip

I use this and it works as has been said in older posts , skid had to be bone dry before you apply it aint pretty cause it is black.
