On my ltx dx the idler wheels closest to the rear of the skid are located on the inside of the rails which allowed me to install the cable style scratchers in a good location on the rails without actually drilling a new hole, only increasing the size of existing holes which wasn’t a big deal.

Now on the rtx se the older wheels closest to the rear are located on the outside of the rails because the fox QS3 rear shock reservoir is off to the one side, therefore not allowing these idler wheels enough room to be placed on the inside of the rails.

My question is, can I just remove these idler wheels? I really don’t want to drill a 2 new holes in the skid rails. Also wondering if that would affect slider life. Any thoughts guys?

I installed cable scratchers on my 2016 LTX DX. Work great on the hard snow after some warmer temps. I did drill two new holes, but put them as close to the front of the skid as I could to make sure the snow would get to the track . Just place the scratcher on the rail , bend them and you can tell where the snow will spray. I made sure I could hook them into one of the openings on the skid when not using them. In low snow conditions my skid is still loaded up with snow. I usually leave them down as they won't wear when the snow is good.

I mounted my cable-type ice scratchers on the skis rather than the skid. Barn of Parts (a site sponsor) sells a stainless steel ski mount bracket (https://www.barnofparts.com/apps/webstore/products/show/7107143) that works well and is straightforward to install. Arguably, ski mounted scratchers provide the best effect for the entire skid. Happy with mine '15 SR Viper RTX-DX with MPI Trail Turbo kit.
