I'm looking for any info on putting a 128 track on my rtx. Does oft make a rail extension to a 128 ? Do you have to extend the tunnel ? Any info would be great. :rocks:

I'm thinking about doing the same to mine and installing an ice ripper track. I don't think you need a tunnel extension going to a 128". I know Hartman sell a kit which I believe is just for the rail extension. http://www.hartmaninc.com/

if you could i would try moving it back, shallower approach angle, and stays away from rail extentions

I bought my rail extensions and track from Tracks USA when I did my 128" conversion. No need for a tunnel extension with this mod, sled looks and hooks up so much better. This is the way they should come from the factory instead of a 121". I will post pics of mine tomorrow. ;)!

Star Suspensions make a 128" relocate kit...it moves the skid back about 4" I think...it looks much better than rail extensions IMO as it give a better approach angle...my buddy has the kit, I think he likes it. Google them, their site was in french but you can use the translate feature on google to change that, it has before and after pics.

I did the same thing. I put on a cobra track which is great in deep snow but does not hook up on hard pack very well. The ripsaw hooks up the best on hard pack.

Looks like a really good kit, and cheap too, if you don't factor in the price of the track.

I installed the Star Suspension kit and would do it again! I have ridden it on rough trails, tight and windy and long straight high speeds and the sled is very stable and handles nice and flat. I installed a Cobra track with the kit.

Again, I would buy the Star Suspension kit and would recommend it to everyone!

side note, you will/should get your rear shocks re-valved as the factory was completely way off on its calibration of the shocks. If you dont re-valve it will still ride rough!

The relocate kit looks interesting and the change in the approach angle makes sense but I'd like a little more info on it. A rail extension is fairly straight forward to install but moving the skid back may not be for the average guy with a set of craftsman wrenches. I know I could figure it out but before I go drilling new holes I'd like to know the pros and cons. It's easy to say it's looks like a good kit but I'd like to hear from more people that's actually installed it. I can buy a rail extension for under $100 dollars and I know that works.

If I ordered it would the direction come in English?

I had my kit installed in 4-5 hrs only thing I had to buy were a couple of 3/16th and a 15/64th Drill bits as new ones takes out rivets nice and fast.

Its pretty much remove skid, hold up the metal mounting plates to see what rivets to drill out. Install new plates with Air riveter as hand ones suck! Then tear apart chain case to swap out track and reinstall. Nothing special and the only thing I had to buy were new drill bits and the air riveter.

I removed the infamous bottom gear bolt in the chain case with an impact and it came out in one piece and I installed the updated bolt from Yamaha.

Is there anyone is the states that sells this relocate kit for Star suspension? Here is my 08 with the 128" Tracks USA extensions and 1 3/8 cobra track.

When you call and order the kit ask Robert@ Star to drive to the US and ship from there, you will get it in 2-3 days. They are great to deal with, they do have a family run business other then the suspension so be patient if they dont answer the phone right away. I wasnt able to find anyone else who carries it in the US, had no problems with ordering it direct from them.
