Well I finally did it. Installed heavier torsion springs from the FX/RTX Phazer on my mountain lite. In a nut shell its a huge difference and I should have done it last year. The whole installation process takes about 45 minutes. All that's really involved is unhooking the 2 rear suspension bolts and the front idler wheels that hold the long arm of the torsion springs. Just a huge, HUGE improvement! good luck.

You dont experience any kicking in the rear when the springs are "heavier" than the shocks?

Not on what I rode last week. The trails at there worst probably had a few 18" bumps but these were enough to send the skid bottoming before. I didn't notice any ill effects of the stiffer springs. But then again I was so happy that the skid wasn't bottoming over the little stuff that maybe I didn't notice.

**update**
I put 600 miles on my Mtn Lite this year after I installed the heavier torsion springs. IMO there are no negatives like kick or bounce. Everything was possitive. The sled feels like it floats over trail bumps now instead of bottoming. I should have put these on the first year I bought the sled. Also, Don't ask me why, but steering effort seems less than before.

I have a 2007 Phazer FX that we turned into a mountain lite. I left the heavier/stiffer springs in there also. I think they work fine, but I have nothing to compare them to......

I did also install stiffer springs. From a Venture I think. Installed them on hardest setting.
i dont think there was any significant difference. It stills bottoming out when jumping
I must install new shocks, I almost think my 81 Skidoo Blizzard runs better on the trail

I'm not saying I can ditch bang like my Nytro. But its a huge difference from stock. I can drive down a bumpy trail now without bottoming. I'm 300+ with gear. I don't know what the rating of the venture lite springs are but the stock mountain lite was a 1700 and the RTX/FX spring is a 2100. sorry I don't know the unit of measure on those numbers.

Stiff spring suspension setup
Superman,
What did you find to be the best suspension setup front and rear for the Mountain Lite with the stiffer springs? I just installed the same on my 08 MTX.

as you know these things don't have any shock settings so all I have is my spring pre-loads on firm and that's it. The sled does not bounce around with the firmer torsions on the back. Its not a mogul masher but it made the rear skid alot nicer. Some day I'm going to put some good shocks on this thing but for now the RTX torsion springs work great for me. It doesn't bottom out on every little bump now.
