2012 Iron Dog has started.... 2000 miles of some the of the wildest and roughest snowmachine riding in world... One Yamaha team this year. Support Team #19 as they run the race. Average winning speed is 60 mph over 2000 miles. http://www.irondograce.org/

Only 1 Nytro team this year too bad. Not sure if I will make it to the finish as I really hate the downtown setup. Nowhere to go sit down or eat close by as you are waiting for the teams to come in. Liked it better at Pikes they would line up the machines as they came in so you could go later in the day and see all of the different setups on the machines (fuel tanks shocks ect.) Was also crazy to see some machines duct taped and safety wired together after a crash to get here. Now they come in load up and leave it sucks. Ok rant over, sorry. If I make it I'll snap some pics.

Np Yammies

When you talk to the racers, the biggest reason no one racers the Yammies is because they won't start when it get cold... Are the factory ears listening???? Yamaha won the first 3 Iron Dog races... not saying it can't be done again.

Interesting I know the first year of the Nytro there were quite a few trying them out. Also in '03 or '04 there were even some RX-1's that raced but I don't think finished.

My buddy owns one of those RX-1s. Looks like they are pretty far back in the pack.

Your buddy has one of the old RX-1 iron dog sleds?

Cool!! I just briefly saw them here in Fairbanks as that year the start was at Pikes. If I remember they had full Ohlins and a mean sounding exhaust. Didn't see what else they had for mods. Do you know if those machines finished that year?

Not sure. He bought it for his wife to ride. Shocks were shot.

4 teams have scratched. All but 2 of the remaining are in Nome. Unfortunetly, Yamaha is pushing towards the back of the pack.

Doo in first. I'm rooting for team #6 Huntington/West. Huntington bought my blown up IQ to use as a practice sled. Hell of a nice guy and has won twice before. Don't count out any of these top teams and of corse the wiley old Vet team of Davis/Palin. Nytro team are in 22nd place.

I think Boney is broke down he has been in the same spot for over three hours now.

Team #19 in layover, postion 7. Could even be #6 by the time in.
Maybe got them dialed in better or something as they are moving up in the pack with better speeds.
