Looking at polishing the running board area of my Apex ER and it appears that there is a coating on the aluminum. It feels real smooth, and if you look(and feel) where they have the serial number engraved, it isn't.
Anyone know if it is or isn't coated with something? This could explain why several aluminum polishes didn't seem to do anything when I tried in a small area?

If there is, I used some aircraft remover to remove the coating on previous sleds that I have polished. This stuff really removed just about anything but won't hurt the aluminum. If you do use it, be careful not to overspray onto some other part that you don't want to get. It would be a good idea to maybe spray the stuff on a rag and wipe onto the area you want to polish. Let it sit for a few minutes and wipe the coating off. That simple.

Crazy, will the aircraft remover hurt the seat or the plastic if you accidentaly get it on them?
Thanks,

Forgot to tell you, take off the seat. I'm not sure if it will hurt the material or not. I never took the chance. It sounds like like some work, but to have that shine when you are done, is well worth it. My tunnel is black, so I will be doing the same thing. Hopefully, the seat isn't to hard to remove. I can't remember what the can said, But I do remember something about plastic. Hardware store should have it. Take a look and read the back of the can.
