Just wondering if the stock muffler is very restrictive? Would it benefit me to cut it and weld some new pieces in it place? Is there any differance compared to a after market exhaust?

No stock is pretty good actually. Aftermarkets will get you 2-4 HP thats it.
You can save some weight especially with the Excel, although the apex stocker is lighter than the RX was

Cut it open and take the guts out. Saved 7 lbs on my RX and sounds pissed off. If you want to talk restrictive.....do an air box mod on the apex. I cut a 3" x 8" hole in my stock airbox and had to go from 137.5 jets to 170 jets!!!! I want someone to try that on the Apex.
