I cannot find on the search that anyone has experienced this....when my 14 all stock Viper LTX is fully warmed...on slow trails, stopping and/ or letting off throttle- it intermittently will backfire and engine dies out lurching forward. Usually I can pump throttle and catch it, but often I need to restart... can be frustrating crossing roads or in parking lots.... does not always "pop" before shutting down, but does often. Dealer is calling Yamaha rep to talk about...never heard of before.... Thankx for any ideas....

Your throttle is to tight. Your TORS is thinking your throttle is stuck and cutting the engine. There is a black rubber boot on the throttle cable try adjusting it a couple turns to loosen the cable and try it. Myn was doing the same thing you are describing and it fixed it.

Same thing happened to me this year also. It started after I had installed my handle bar bag for my goggles. Seem to make the cable too tight. I loosened it up a bit and now it hasn't happened since.

X3 other thing it could be is broken clutch spring or too tight of deflection.

Finally had a chance to loosen the throttle cable- I think that solved the problem!! Not enough snow to go too far yet to really try it out, but the few circuits around a nearby field....seems MUCH better! Thanks guys!
