I to have decided to make the move to an Apex Gt this winter. My first machine was a 72? Polaris 295 Charger. Every one since though has been a Cat. All my Cats have held up well and never needed to be towed out but there line up is in my mind dated. I hated every trip this winter packing a gallon + of oil. My wife hates the smell of a 2 stroke so she does not come out (maybe thats not a bad thing?). Was tempted to go for an RX 1 last year and almost bought a mach in Feb. Glad i waited. As noted in other treads, times are changing and if the mfg's do not keep up people will be changing. I to have a black suit & helmet. I will ride the best machine for my needs. I really think the new 06 yami's are the ticket. Like the rest of you it will be a long summer. But still getting 1 more run in this friday, good lord permitting.
It would appear that this site will be my new home as well there appears to be many other newbies finding there place here. Now that these machines rock, maybe we will now get the women to!
It seems most of you are all level headed and happy to help your fellow sledders. While I am no techie I can tell you about great riding spots in Quebec.
Wishing you all a great summer!

Hey TT, you might remember me as "freak". You're gonna be loving that Yamaha. I jumped off my 03 REV for an RX1 this year and couldn't be happier. And they can really haul the mail with a little tweaking. Can't wait to be on an Apex next season...
Welcome to the site guys and gals, you have found the best site on the net for Yamaha sleds...BBY

I'm switching from an '04 F7 to an Attak. 2 others in our riding group switching also. One with an '05 F7 to an RTX and the other with an '04 Rev 500SS to an Attak. It's going to be a great year next winter.

Well congratulations! You have now figured out what probably most of us found out years ago. As you can see, by the ages of us guys buying Apex's and RTX's, we are not spring chickens. We have been around the block a few times.
Yes the rev's are a very nice platform. But I myself have experience the engine problems with both skidoos I bought. I learned real quick. I have been snowmobiling since 1970. My first sled was a 1969 Yamaha SL351. Since then I have owned a Chapparel Thunderbird, Yamaha Enviter, Skidoo GLX 2 up, Skidoo Formula III 600, Polaris Indy 500 EFI 2 up, Polaris Indy 440 LC, Polaris Ultra touring, 00 Yamaha Phazer 500, 98 Yamaha SRX, 02 Yamaha SXViper.
Of these 11 sleds the only engine problems came from SKIDOO! Needless to say after all my 30 some years of experience I find that Yamaha has been the best overall sled when it came to dependability.
I really think that once you get into the Yamaha family you will feel very comfortable with your choice. Good Luck and welcome to the blue team.
