I have an 03 RX-1 and I am having a hell of a time removing the c-clip on the secondary side of the jack shaft.
Any tricks? The clip seems to fit tightly inside a collar in the bulkhead.

Loosen the nut inside the chaincase and you can slide the shaft over to remove the clip.

I have the chain case off completely...is there another lock nut say on the secondary side?

You just need to grab it with a c-clip tool and brute force it. No tricks except the obvious -- a little penetrating oil.

I fought with a C-clip tool and a needle nose, but it keeps snapping off and back into the seat...
Will try again tonight!

Needle nose pliers are NOT the right tool. You may be able to modify a pair though.... Use ones that are fairly LONG, and bend the tips together so that they are slanted inward when spread far enough to grab the clip. The problem with your needle nosed pliers is that when you grab the clip, the tips are slanted AWAY from each other, which pushes the clip off.
