Advice needed on jack shaft install

I feel your pain because I have done the update this year and have trashed two outer and one inner bearing this year in 100 miles. The last bearing trashed the jackshaft and the chaincase cover. $459.00 later it is back together but still nervous about what I missed the first two times.

That's correct.
This list should complete the kit.

8FA-17645-10-00 Collar/Sleeve
93306-20650-00 Bearing
8FA-17642-00-00 Nut
90209-25012-00 Washer
90201-25289-00 Washer Plate (T1.6)
;)!

I worked on mine tonight and I saw the outer chain case moving when I would tighten it up. So now I need to figure out why the top of the outer case is pulling in and putting the bearing in a bind. At least now I know why it was burning bearings up.

Found this older posting while searching for topics on failed chaincase bearings.

LC: Thank you much. Your approach makes sense regarding the locking nut. Special thanks regarding your comment on the shim on the chain case side between the c clip and the thick collar with the o ring. I do not have one! I thought there should be one based upon some alignment issues. My dealer replaced the bearing on the driven sheeve side last spring and I have had nothing but trouble ever since. He obviously lost the shim. I now see on the parts list what is missing. After my dealer has pulled the shaft three times and not replaced the shim, he obviously does not understand what is missing. Two bearings and a chain case cover later, I finally get to the heart of the matter. Again thank you for solving what my dealer could not do after about $300 bucks!!

What's the chance it was missed at the factory? Maybe your dealer did not lose the shim. My 03 rx1 is missing the same shim. Last year, I had the chaincase apart on my 03 rx1 for a new track install and jackshaft locking collar upgrade. I took it apart yesterday for some other repairs. The inner chaincase bearing on the jackshaft is bad. It was ok 500kms ago. I did not have any leftover shims, and my garage is clean, so I would have noticed if I missed it.

This spring, I bought a spare jackshaft off ebay. It has the shim, but there is none like it on my sled.

Be gald you do not have an extra Shim inside there. In my last "other brand sled", there was a shim floating around in the chaincase, from the factory. The oil got milkly and I changed it. Then it got milky again. I opened up the case and there was a shim lodged between the chain and the chain case. It was rubbed super thin. Also, there was a big chunk of the chain case gouged out near the seal. All the metal was making the lube milky.

Needless to say, the entire case and guts had to be replaced. However, it took the "other brand's manufacturer" 7 months to pony up and fix the thing. I heard every excuse in the book as to why my 2 year extended warantry did not cover it, even though it was still in effect. I think the dealer finally just fixed it. However, he did not replace the chain which was at the limit of the adjustement. I replaced the chain after I got it back.

Like I said, be glad you have nothing extra! Needless to say, that was my last "other brand Sled".
