So I have had a mystery vibration that I could not isolate, I finally found it today. The jackshaft nut and collar behind the secondary clutch has slid on the shaft. Any ideas on how to get the nut loose and everything slid back into place. So far it has received a copious dose of PB blaster in hopes of breaking things free. Any ideas? Anyone else have this happen? I thought maybe it was the bearing but it looks good, mostly because it has had to turn for a while I suppose....

Do you mean the bearing nut that is part of the secondary clutch?

I guess that is what it is, I can get part numbers but it is right behind the jackshaft bearing that is behind the secondary...

The bearing nut part 19 screws onto collar 18 to align the bearing on the shaft. The shaft comes out from the clutch side and unfortunately you have to disassemble the chain case. I had to set one up once before but do not remember the procedure to set it up. when you screw the two parts together they tighten on the shaft if I'm not mistaken. I was looking in the manual but could find no instructions on set up.

MT RX1 if I read your post correctly it seems like something isn’t right ?
There’s no way the collar and nut can slide in the shaft without taking the bearing with it, as you can see by the pics steiner posted the collar goes on one side of the bearing and the nut on the other, the inner race of the bearing is slightly cone shaped and the same with the collar, when you tighten the nut from behind the bearing the collar will slide inside the bearing race and hold it on the shaft..
So how did your collar and nut slide out ?
What I have seen on a friends 06 apex was the nut backed out some which caused the collar to back out of the bearing race and the bearing wore the collar enough that the collar and nut moved toward the chain case side about an inch pasted the bearing, I think who ever changed the bearing didn’t tighten the nut enough and eventually broke free causing this..

That what I was think after reading the post about that. I did order a new nut and collar/insert. Does anyone know what the bearing cross number would be? I thought I read it was a 6206. I own a NAPA store so I was going to order one in just in case. I'm not sure what caused it to happen. I had a shop repalce that bearing a couple of years ago but haven't had much chance to ride it since....

I’m not sure what the cross number would be but I do know it’s a special bearing as in the race is tapperd like a cone unlike other bearing that have the same size inside diameter on both sides.
I could almost say 100% that the shop didn’t install the collar/insert and nut right which made the nut back out just enough to make the collar spin as you were riding and wore the collar enough to slide between the bearing and the shaft, that’s also the reason the nut wont loosen as it got jammed on the treads from it spinning on the shaft, the nut will never get tight on the collar unless the collar is installed on the shaft, hard to explain but you will know what I mean once you get the new parts.. hopefully the shaft isn’t damaged.
