Whats the deal with the coolant shut off? why would you need one?

Be cause if you shut the sled off and go to restart it before it cools off it runs horrible,blubbers then clears up.Its boiling the gas in the carbs.I never had any problems with it around home except for once when it was like 50 degrees.But some thing out west makes it much worse.I put my shut off on in the parking lot of togetee lodge and it makes a huge differernce.
