Not new to yamaha I have a 07 apex but.…....I have a few questions for you guys that are familiar with the phazer.

1. The tunnel is open under the rear seat so the update wasn't done to it. What are the odds of getting the update done? Or is it ok open? There is a cooling fan on the rad so some updates were done.

2 it has 7000 km on it anything I should check? Engine wise valve lash?

3 new DuPont sliders installed. Idlers have some play but will work fine for this winter.

4 what are you guys running for carbides? The ones on the sled are worn off so I need to replace them.

5 oil was changed beginning of the season.

6 what breaks on them?

7 front controll arms have some play so I am going to have to redo the front bushings--what are you guys using? Stock plastic or is there a better option?

GreAtly appreciate any help.

-A lot of people have done their own tunnel closing kits and there is an aftermarket option as well.

-Engine should be fine.

-I like snowtrackers.

-Make sure the skid does not bottom out. This will break stuff. Also if it was never done (I think it probably has been done since it has 7000kms) the starter bolts tend to back out and would cause a no start.

-Oilite bushings is the go to replacement for stock bushings.

A couple of your questions I'm currently dealing with myself. First, I recently asked about the front A arm bushings myself and a few people recommended Ulmers for the bushing kit. I haven't gotten around to ordering it yet but hopefully here in the near future I will.

Secondly, the 2007's had trouble with the front pivot arm on the rear suspension cracking and breaking. My new arm should be here Monday =). I believe in 08 they beefed up the arm and a couple other brackets that bolt to that arm. I put a picture in the thread if you want to check it out. http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=126275

Lastly, it won't hurt the sled to run with the tunnel open (mine is still open for the time being). However, it does cause some issues like ice build up and water running down the tunnel. If the weather is at all warm water will run right down outside of the tunnel and it has soaked my pants and boots. I bet I've had 5 to 10 pounds of ice build up under the flap and around the opening. In short, it's more annoying than anything in my opinion.

Hope that helps some. Enjoy the new sled!

1/8" piece of aluminum, cut to fit & rivet on for tunnel enclosure- works fine, cheap.

Oilite bushing in A-arms + UP Bushman's kits do wonders for sloppy steering, longer you wait worse they get.
Excell's "X" wheels are bigger and help to reduce the known problem of slider wear @ the rail bend, add 4 across the front. ;)!
