I just got a 2007 Apex ER yesterday. Bought it from an older guy with only 1000 miles and it is mint. I was wondering where I could get a rear cooler kit for this sled? I heard they tend to run hot on hard packed trails and that is mostly what I ride. My dealer told me these kits are $400 but I read posts on here saying they were less. Where can I get a kit and how much?

Thanks yes I am studded. I will keep my eyes open for one. Anything else I should know about the 07 model year sleds?

I just installed a rear cooler on an 07 Apex GT; tested it out today, finally, no overheating. Cost for heat exchanger was $207 (full retail); check with Part Yamaha; they have the best prices around.

You should also check your coolant to ensure it is a 60/40 mix. A lot of us have had sleds come with 100% coolant. Sled overheats like crap with that coolant.

Mikeyd what is the part number on the kit? Previous owner changed the coolant just to ensure it was 60/40 mix and he said sled never once had the temp light come on. I just want to do this to give me a little more peace of mind.

MikeB I was told that just the LTX sleds need the tunnel guards when putting the rear cooler in? Anyone have any input on this?

I have never had my light come in 4200 miles. I would check coolant level and mix. I also ride alot of hardpack.

You don't need additional tunnel protectors for the ER! Call Port Yamaha for the heat exchanger for the 121" skid. Takes anywhere from one to two hours to install. Here is a link to directions. Just scroll down to ROCKERDAN's post, he has pictures and everything.
