Just bought an XTX...What to change first?

xtx

What is all needed to mount the pilot skis on a nytro, do u have to buy a mounting kit or can u use the yamaha stuff??

I will throw my vote in for the stock mountain ski's not bad on trail or off. I would also consider a clutch kit. sonds,

A taller windshield and studs.

I ran USI X2's ski's on mine. They made the sled turn like a Mac truck w/o powersteering and the sled still hunted and darted below 40 mph. Above 40 the sled felt planted and stable.

I plan on using stock ski's with dual carbides.

Vote for rider forward!

If you do any stand-up riding, powder carving or jumping, I'd highly recommend our rider forward steering post relocator. We put one on a 136" crossover build that we are doing and, man, it just makes it feel "right". It will move the steering post forward about 2 1/2" ( more towards vertical ) at the top bearing mount and allow you to pivot the handlebars more inline with the steering post angle. Most short track Nytros that I have seen have the bars pivoted forward so far that they use all of the rise in the bars to compensate the need to move the bars forward and, in turn, lose a lot of the "rise" of the factory bars. Best of all, with the relocator, the handlebar ends won't hit your knees ( or gas tank ) when you turn the steering all of the way to the sides.

Enjoy your new sled. :-o

Unless your dealer didn't offer a fix.
Re-enforce your front limiter straps.
You don't want them going too slack under full compress.
And then pull up around the top cross shaft into the track lugs.

I'm not sure what Yamaha did on the 2010 to fix?
Anyone know?

Nice save on the subject change ;)! The ski thing gets old after while IMO. Maybe the question should be "what was the best change you did to your Nytro after you changed your ski's"

Cool...
Then add bigger wheels like the 2010...
Less wear on the sliders. (I hope)

X2! No need to buy skis unless you are a powder rider. Maybe a 10 gallon tank upgrade too.

If you plan to go off trail at all you need to change the skis.

hows the 6.9's on the sled????

I liked them so much I put a set on the 08 Vector LTX GT, made a world of difference, especially off trail.

with one or two sets of runners? what about handling on trail as in darting etc.?

The windshield side deflectors are great on those real cold days

Excell exhaust and curve skis, I put 3500 miles on mine last year with these changes, also had a ulmer and drag-n-flys on clutch was leaning towards DFs.
