Hello, I have a 05 RS Venture, only 6500 kms but looking at upgrading to the 09 Venture GT, I have 2young kids that I take with me a lot and just don’t want to worry about reliability concerns on these trips as the 05 gets older. As well the trade in value is still decent at this time. A local dealer has offered me a great deal on a new 09. Reading in TY there are some great reviews on the 09, but since buying a 1st year sled in 05 I’m a bit concerned.
Love the 05 except the track howl, it drives me crazy, hard pressed to hear the engine. The other problems I had the first 2 years was with slider wear until I put on the oversize wheels, and still have the TORS disconected. The only thing I have done to the sled other then change the sliders was some small handling adjustments as well I have put on Simmons flex Skis, when I put these on it was like riding a new sled. I was shocked how much better it was.
How much better/worst is the 09 compared to the 05? Does the 09 seem more tippy then the 05 on tight trails as with my 05 and Simmons flex Skis I’m impressed how well such a long/heavy sled handles in the tight bush trails and in Southwestern Ontario we have lots of trails through bush lots.
Does anybody know what will be offered for the 2010 RS Venture GT, my main concern would be a change or adjustment to eliminate any problems that there might be with the 2009 If any?. (i.e. the 06 skid had an extra set of wheels compared to the 05 to help with the excessive slider wear.
Thanks for any feedback

If the deal is good go for it and don't look back.
I had an 05 and liked it but it does not hold a canlde to my 09 GT. The 09 has less howl but
more than my 07 Venture GT. Now that I have
made some suspension adjustments I really like it.
The FI motor is a huge improvement on an already great setup.

I wouldn't buy a first year sled....I don't think you are going to see Yamaha put any new touring sleds for 2010 but I am sure there will be updates for the 09 VentureGT .....I would wait until fall but that's just me....

Re: Keep the 05 RS Venture, buy the 09 our wait for the 2010
I'm in the same boat as you with kids and I've been brand loyal since 06 and I gota say the skidoo GTX four stroker is looking real good because of all the features compared to the venture. Dont get me wrong I still like the Yams but for my use the S/D appeals to me far better.RADMAN said:Hello, I have a 05 RS Venture, only 6500 kms but looking at upgrading to the 09 Venture GT, I have 2young kids that I take with me a lot and just don’t want to worry about reliability concerns on these trips as the 05 gets older. I also looked at the GTX or even the single seater (GSX) with the add on seat. But when you add the cost for the add on seat, backrest and handwamers the GTX is a better deal. I just get my buddies riding me about the "Old Man Sedan".
I have had great service with my dealer (Yamaha/Polaris) as well very close to home (10 min) and I pass him every day on my way to the office. I have had 2 Skidoo's and we have 2 dealers about 35/45 min drive away, but service is not even close to the Yamaha dealer (in 15 years I have never missed a weekend do to the sled in for repairs or waiting for parts), Lots of my buddies ride Ski-doo and most complain about the dealer service and time to get the sled back. I think I will wait until Tuesday to check out the 2010's as after the 05 I said I would never take a first season sled again.

I have an 05 and I am looking at the 09. The only minor drawback I see is that the seat is shorter on the 09. On the 05, I can ride my two kids and myself no problem.

Johnboy, I took my kids on the weekend to check out the 09 and it is alot shorter. When riding the 05 we have no problem with my 8 year old on the front even when wearing a TEK-Vest and my 11 year old on back, still lots of room we do a lot of rides 150+kms a day. But on the 09 it is a little cramped, the larger problem is the rear seat is much wider, my oldest son who is 4'-5" tall when sitting in the back had problems with his legs (knees) clearing the rear handle bars wind deflectors. We do not have this problem with the 05. But I'm sure he will grow the next year and he is saving his money for a phazer, since he can ride on the trails as soon as he is 12. I'm going to wait to see if any changes with the 2010.johnboy said:I have an 05 and I am looking at the 09. The only minor drawback I see is that the seat is shorter on the 09. i am taking the chance.... away from my business but i say it anyway..
that having your 8 years old boy between you and the stering may injure him very badly should some bad occurs. said..

Having a small child on the back of the sled could be just as dangerous , small kids don't have the strength to hold on tight if you have to manover very quickly, I have my youngest son on the front for that same reason, yes he could get could hurt, but I could leave him at home in his bubble until he is old enough to drive him self, glad my parents didn't do that I was wrapped up in a sleeping bag with a little helmet at 2 years old on the front of the sled....At least the 05 -08 Venture's have the room if you needed to react if something bad were to occur....

Bite the bullet and bought the 09. What a difference from the 05, quite track and a great ride. Love the seating position. Put on 250km Monday and Tuesday AM. Transfered the Simmons Flex Skis off the 05 onto the 09. Very happy, only concern is a vibration in the left running board. Dropped off the dealer for him to take a look. Hopefully some more snow in the next few days so we can get in a few more Kms.

There appear ro be Zero changes for the 2010 Venture GT. Buy an 09 if you can find one. I normally buy a new sled every year but with no improvements to the 2010 I'll probably keep it another year. Four years of warranty is nice.
