Two of my buddies purchased the new Polaris FST (4 stroke turbo). Polaris found a POTENTIAL problem with the starting gear. Not only did they recall the sleds but they gave $50.00 in gas for trailering. I not complaining because I really like my APEX, but I will be paying attention. My sleds 200 miles from where I purhased it, so I may have to take it up there just for the gas. Hopefully I didnt have problems with my wheels, but the grips will need a fix.

I agree, i think this is a great thing. Sleds today cost so much money. You can get a car with a better warranty etc.. then you can get a sled. Pretty soon that is going to have to change if mfgs aren't going to fix the problems (big or small) with their products. Just cuz they are snowmobiles doesn't get them off the hook as they think it does.

I too love my new RTX, but the handwarmers are a real issue. I really hope yamaha fixes the problem. At this point i don't care about the gas money, just fix the problem.

Cheap bastards should have thrown lunch in too !
Just kidding, That was cool on their part I must agree.

knowing Ymaha , they would charge US to fix whatever Defctive part it was. or just state they have not heard off any problems LOL!!

A starter problem on a 4 stroke can leave you, (not only wrecking your weekend) stranded, so I do see that as a different level of problem.
But yeah, hats off to Polaris.

Anyone have an idea as to why there is no pull start as a backup on the 4 stroke sleds? My Kodiak has one. I imagine it would be hella hard to pull, but Mach Z's are manual start.

Yes very good of them. Perhaps they can now pay their 900 owner's dentist bills for being shaken like a paint can all last year.... That had to rattle a couple fillings out.

Thats were Polaris is coming from. They are putting damage control in place with all the issues they had with the Con-fusion last season. Polaris wants to be number 1 in the market share again. You have to expect problems when you buy a first year sled, car , truck or anything for that matter. That is why I held off buying this year. Yamaha's quality is leaps and bounds over the next manufacturer.

boy that has to piss off alot of fusion owners,i dont think they had a choice, look how the fusion owners got shafted

I heard their were some updated engine mounts available for the fusion now. I guess alot of dealers told customers they are on their own with all the problems.

I know I'm safe here saying this, but I cannot believe the crap that Polaris has been releasing to their loyal customers. 3 of my buddies bought Fusions last winter. Two of them are on Apexes this winter. It's pretty obvious to me that all they did for 06 Fuse 9s was to put a little lipstick on the pig. Still vibrates, still sucks gas, still eats belts and still breaking motor mounts and torque stops. The 7 is a vibrating gas guzzling pig too. The 6 sounds decent, but isn't setting the world on fire either. In fact, on some HCS Fuse forums, many are complaining about no top end already. And now this with the FSTs. I had 3 Polarises in a row that were junk. I left and never went back in 98 when hte SRX came out. Looks like they're still building garbage people are still buying it. :die Polaris

Same reason there is not one on your car. You dont need it!

The computer needs full voltage to work right. If your battery is down so low it won't start the motor, it ain't going to start cause the computer won't have the juice to run. Only time it would work is if the start crapped out while still having full voltage to run the computer.

BTW, some have put a belt around the pulley and started it up, so you could take some belt along and put it in the trunk. If you think you need it.

lets hope Yamaha gets a quick fix for the grips. I spoke to my dealer about the wheel problems. The comment was made, "THEY HAD STUDS". If my wheels go bad and I get that story, I am not going to be a happy camper. That being all said I believe Yamaha quality is better than doo, polaris and definately cat.

Polaris also said it was likely all of the starter gears being replaced would eventually fail leaving the sleds stranded..... an issue that would provoke a mfgr to take a proactive approach to avoid bad press and disgruntled customers. Im sure they wouldnt do the same if they had weak handwarmers.
