Longer Jets for Mountain RX

I was just reading in the latest copy of SnowTec magazine. An article says there is longer main jets for the moutain sleds. They say the longer jets suck gas from deep in the floatbowl so your engine won't starve for gas on steep inclines. These are aftermarket jets and come in a varierty of sizes and is a better fix then the float bowls that yamaha came out with.
 

i dont really see from looking at the bowls while off how longer jets would correct the problem... When looking at the angle of the carbs on the motor sitting stationary. When the sled is at the angles i expierienced the stalling at,,, a longer jet would not have helped the situation. then angle of the carbs was beyond vertical as the sled was standing straight up. the new bowls with the "cup" on the bottom,, seems to be a reasonable "fix" due to the ability to retain a small amount of fuel in the cup to keep you under power untill the nose falls over again.

This is just what i have experienced,,, your results and experiences may have been very different from mine,,,

all i know is with lots of setup and tuning time,,, these sleds rock!
 
I would not know. I have a short track. I was just advising this forum of what I read. I will see if I can scan the article and post it. I think Maximum Perf is making the jets.
 
The kit from Yamaha comes with new float bowls. The main jets sit on an extension that has an o-ring on the bottom end that fits into a recessed part of the new flaot bowl. This keeps the jet in a bowl of gas when going up or down a steep grade. So far has fixed the problem. Was a free upgrade on the Mtn sleds/ there are a few treads on this on the site /including part no. from Yamaha.

Unfortunatly I have a short track that doen't get the upgrade.
The one number I found here for the yamaha part says it's a bad number.

I have a dealer trying to get me the Yamaha upgrade, but sofar no luck.

I was wondering if anyone has tried the Thunder Products Jets.

kit has two numbers on it 8EP-1111T-00 / floatchamber kit / K030310A.
Prety sure its the first one. If your dealer can't get it ,Ican check and see how much they are here.
 
Blue Rx, I could not get the bowls for my "shortie " either. I just ordered the jets from Thunder Products, and it was 40$ shipped. 137.5 is the size they stock, but they are making me a set of 165's for the ECP kit. Running out of gas half way up sucks!
 
Blue RX, called my dealer and they say that the kit can not just be ordered. They have to call Yamaha and give the serial no. of sled and tell them that the sled is having problems on hills. He also has not tried to get kit for a shortie yet. I don't know if Spray 25s dealer could do any better but I have got parts from them before and they go the extra mile. Sorry.
If you can get this kit at least you wouldn't have to have jets made.

I guess the jets are working great if you are ordering a set of 165's? Was it $40 for the 165's also?

Thanks for doing the extra work for me. I will keep hounding my dealer or if that doesn't work will order Thunder Jets.
 
It was 40$ shipped for the 165's I have not tried them yet, but I have been told that they are better than the bowls... If they don't work, I will pitch a major fit.
