I am looking at a low Mileage 2017 LTX-SE, this will be my first turbo sled, looking for advice on what to look for, be weary of etc... any common issues/recalls on this year?

I am familiar with the chassis as currently have a RTX-SE Viper

I think will be reading a lot in the coming days, maintenance, tunes etc..

I just bought one- LTX LE. I have never had a 4s before. Always skidoo and arctic cat. I can tell you i was very skeptical at first. Put 270 Miles on it this last weekend and I am loving it. TD 265 pT tune, 6.9 pilots. Sled is like a slot car compared to my 15 XRS and the power requires a new brain training. That being said at normal speeds it is also very good handling and performance. Weight was always the first thing on my mind and those concerns are long gone. 125 miles of the 270 where trail moguls and garbage. Not a problem, attacked them as I would with my XRS and away it went. High speeds it just silly. I was worried bout all the things i read i hear but it has been flawless thus far and i will cross that bridge when I get there if i have any issues. Warranty til 2022 so whatever happens happens. Well worth the price of admission!!

I would wonder if that 265 tune would have an impact on any engine bay related warranty? I would think that it (the tune),would be detectable by the dealer, but maybe not.

This is talked about on here all the time- here is the bottom line. The dealer gets paid by Yamaha ( very well ) for warranty work they perform. It is in their best interest to make as much money as possible. There isn't a dealer I know of that is currently non for profit. When something is wrong they diagnose it and want to fix it to get paid by Yamaha. That being said all issues engine related are up to the " dealer digression " as to why its broke and if " warranty ' is going to cover it. I never buy used from a dealer but I did this TD tuned Yamaha. This dealer is very well know in my area and I specifically asked about the tune. His response was they will take care of it. Normally i would be very skeptical. However this 998 Yamaha motor is a gem. 265 HP is not a issue for this motor and i believe it takes it in stride. I doubt I will ever be in for a actual motor related issue. the chain case and gear case both were resealed by this dealer without any questions asked. Life is short, I plan to ride it a ton, enjoy it and then move on to another one as technology gets better. In 15 years this motor and tune will still be running flawlessly. ( Not in the chassis but powering some village in Honduras I'm sure )

If you think manufacturers pay dealers “ very well “ for warranty repairers you have never worked at one. Warranty work is no gold mine.

You need to be looking at it....IN YOUR GARAGE. LOL!

Correct. If anything, it is a burden.
