Hello to all.I am thinking of buying a 2005 RX! tomorrow..the sled has 5400 miles , an aftermarket clutch, a 4 into 1 pipe...and looks to be in generally very clean condition.I am going to pay 2800.00 for the sled.Wondering if you guys could weigh in on whether or not this seems like a reasonable deal? The one thing I know is that the track is less than perfect with some of the lugs cracking.I am aware of the common exhaust issues and bushing issues..any other things to consider? All imput is welcome and appreciated.

Check the skid for crack. The mono skid on that sled its easy to crack from what i read. I also have a 05 but im upgrading to a zx2

Sounds like a good price to me.. The 03's are still goin for that much.

Bought it!

So did the 3 plus hour drive to see the rx1 and ended up pulling the trigger and buying it...Sled was as the guy said and actually cleaner than I expected...Perfect body cond , had brand new 6 inch dual carbides...clicker clutch..(I dont know what that is!)new battery, some sort of after market ski's,a muzzys exhaust system(sounds cool)no rips in seat, track does show some wear but good for a season or 2 more...has a lot of studs in it...don't know how to figure the number will have to take a closer look 5400 miles .It started up perfect but it did seem to idle a bit rough as it warmed up...noticed the red warning light on dash was on and became concerned..found out it was damn near out of gas..added gas light went out and it seemed to idle a bit better...ran it around in the grass just a little and noticed ..at least to me it it was not quite running perfect..asked the owner if he had treated the gas at end of last season and he said no...and he used regular gas...after mulling it over I decided worse case carbs prob need a seafoam treatment or removal for cleaning and synching long story short I own a pretty nice 05 RX! for what I think is a decent price...opinions?

Nice! I would absolutely pull the carbs off and clean them! When I bought my warrior the carbs had NEVER been off. Sounds like a nice buy!

The mono skids tend to crack all over the front arm.. especially where the cross shaft is welded to the arms. Look closely at these areas.

And to the person who said the price was high.. Id like to know where you bought an 04 Warrior with 900 miles for $2800? Ill take 2 at that price.

Ya clean the carbs! Below is some links to help you out. Do one at a time and change the philips screws on the float bowls to allen head one for the next time you ever do it. I have only done mine once. The phillips can be a bitch to get out. I was lucky and only rounded one with the screwdriver. I used a dremmel and cut a slot for a large standard screwdriver to remove it. I got my screws from Canadian tire but you can buy them from a guy on here.

Some guys are swearing by mechanic in a bottle as a storage and cleaning solution. Not knowing how it is running I don't know if that would help or not. Check the fuel filters in the tank to see if they are falling apart or not you have to fish them out with a coat hanger. Mine where fine and still are.

5,000 miles is nothing, I have 18,000 on my 05 RX and I would trust it to go on a week long trip anytime. It is now my spare sled so the miles may not accumulate very fast now!

Have fun my RX has been good to me and many others still love and ride theirs. 2,800 is a good buy I would not sell mine for less then 5,000 bucks with the ZX2 Suspension.

I would go through and replace the bearings if you install a new track and if you don't I would check, clean and repack the secondary side jack shaft and driveshaft bearing. You can do this with a jewlers screwdrive by very carefully popping out the seal on them and clean them out with electrical or brake cleaner. Gently blow dry so you don't blow the seals out the other side and grease with a needle end on you grease gun.

If your front bushings are loose replace them with oillights or the ones Pioneer performance sells, I have those and they have out lasted the Yami ones by a long shot. Your donuts are not leaking so check the skid for cracks and do your fluids in the motor and chaincase. After that you should be fine unless other have anything they want to add.
