My ApexGT has 7600 miles and I notice it is getting very loud. From reading all of the posts on here it sounds like Exhaust donuts.

It hasn't been backfiring, idle is steady, and I will consider the rag test that some described on here next but was wondering if that would cause any additional damage.

The dealer basically says its fine and just ride it. I compared it against another GT with 1700 miles and the difference is huge! They claim the noise I'm hearing is loose tunnel protectors towards the front because they have already re-riveted the tunnel protectors towards the back. (Sounds like a louder exhaust and slight ticking)

My fear is if I ignore this problem it will get worse and destory the Y-Pipes or worse. The dealer says all is well and just ride it!

Will Y.E.S. cover this failure? It looks like some mixed results from searching on here. Couple were covered, couple were covered parts only, and others totally denied. Which is it???

Any other ideas for me to prove to them they are bad?

at 7600 miles.....i would have them done....if you do it undr YES it should be covered from what Im hearing...but you may want to do it yourself, then if Y pipes are bad they should cover it...very easy job.....check my thread i did on it.

keep us posted on how you make out

My sled is at the dealer right now getting them replaced for FREE threw my YES extended warranty.. Thank god for a good dealer..

sled has 6890 miles

My 06 Attak started getting very loud under the hood. Took it apart today and one of the Y pipes is cracked completely off one of the flex pipes. What a mess. Mine was severley Backfiring though also

UPDATE:

Dealer installed the new donuts, and put the whole sled back togther, then called me and told me it was still leaking.. THey didnt take the time to inspect the Fex pipes, Im sure it has a broken or cracked one..

Sled backfires severly..

THe dealer didnt want to take it back apart , because they fear the parts will be on back order and wont get to ride it for the rest of the year..

that stinks, man yamaha better start producing alot more parts, seems as though they are all starting to go

I had one of the titanium pipes go bad...because the donut blew out and caused one section of the pipe to rub against the other. This wore a hole in the $317 pipe, which, even with no YES, was covered by Yamaha out of warranty thanks to some deft letter writing skills.
