Looking for some much needed input here. I have 7k miles on my '08 Apex LTX and still doing some fine tuning. Sled is not studded, has a 13mm sway bar, second set of aggressive snow trackers, limiter strap pulled up one hole from stock, Pioneer revalved rear shock. I have read many times here that my front shock springs should be as loose as possible. I think they still had too much pre-load, tried to back them off a bit more and found one of the adjuster nuts (or shock body threads) stripped....I know, I know....dumb mistake!
So long story short, have taken shocks (kayaba's) to a shop to repair the stripped threads and to have them serviced for the first time! I have read here that shimming the stock shocks to lower ride height without backing the pre-load way off is a great way to go. My question to those suspension guru's here is.... should I shim the front shocks to lower ride height (and get the a-arms level) and if so how much?
Also, when I had the front of the sled lifted I noticed that the steering has a spot that is binding real bad.....worst when almost hard over to the right I think...never noticed this when on the trail. It almost feels like a cable is keeping if from turning all the way to the stop. Do I need to change buried bushings?
Thanks in advance,
Blu
