Can anybody tell me an easy way to adjust the rear spring preload as I am having a hell of a time with it!! The damn spring keeps spinning with the X over tube. There must be a trick to make this easier.
Any help would be greatly appeciated. this is getting extremely frustrating

You have to put a spring compressor on the spring because I am preety sure there is a clip you have to pull out in order to turn the top nut.

finally
I managed to get a set of vice grips on the spring and wacked the top of the spring collar with a hammer and screwdriver. It finally moved some, obviously hadn't moved in a while but it free'd up and it moved. If I had spring compressor it would have worked alot easier.

I just looked at my book and it says to leave the X-tube locked and turn it. Does it really matter if the spring turns or not? Also if I am reading right the spring has a tab locked into the x-tube If I am reading it right it might have to turn with it !

x tube
You leave the xtube locked and supposedly just turn it to set preload but the spring needs to stay still , but it twists with the x-over tube thus not doing anything. If there was a place to put a second spanner wrench on the spring collar it would be alot easier, but the spring twists to easy. The clip at the top is part of the shock and doesn't affect the preload adjusting. Not to my knowledge anyway. It's a simple adjustment if the spring doesn't twist
