The M7 141 skid looks hardcore on the RX1. Based on looks alone, I want one! In reality, do I need one? I know it seems like a necessity for you mountain riders, but would it be beneficial for a guy who rides, bush trails, groomed trails, break trail through the bush, lakes, deep snow and the odd hydroline hill climb?

I am doing Thrusted Vector's suspension bracket mod tomorrow and that is good enough for me to try out. I wonder how that M7 suspension would be on a rough bush trail. Yes the M7 skid is lighter, but is it also durable?? The pro-action skid from what I have been hearing is notorious for eating sliders...you don't hear much about it with the Cat skids. I am assuming that that issue is a non-issue?

Keep in mind, I am thinking justification in price also. You can't compare prices in the US, things seem dirt cheap way down there. I can't imagine what a M7 skid would be worth here. Ordering from the US would be a killer too because of exchange, shipping, duty, etc.

Any insight would be appreciated.

You can get a M7 skid new for around $390. Let me know if you need the guys email and number. He lives in North Dakota and pulls them new for upgrading for race sleds and so on. I am a mountain rider and was never even happy with my proaction on rough trails. You know how they get towards the end of the day! To get the transfer you need for the powder and hills you would have to suffer in my opinion on the trail riding suspension wise. From what I have read and heard the AC skids are pretty tough. If you are like me.....I ride them hard and if they break I know what kind of upgrades I need to do, but the ride between the proaction and the AC skid is night and day. Just my .02! I also have the template you would need to make the rear bracket. Just let me know. The install is a piece of cake! Take care.

I too am a little wary of the M7 rails in the rear. Do a search, and find a pic of an '04 King Cat. The M1 suspension looks particularly beefy. It looks like my 153 M7 will be shipped early next week so I am committed now. $390 new, I should have talked to you first. I just paid $400 for a "like new" '05 (whatever that means) from Troy at RVsports.com.
Still cheaper than anything else you can do to a rear suspension one part at a time. Gotta run...

Great, hopefully the price is right. I assume Canadian prices will sky high as usual.
