Just installed over drive clutch, and machined helix for the spring pocket.
Anyone do thjis similar mod and have to change weight in clutch arms ?
1st ride out this year and RPM seems low, 10,200.
Last year was running 10400 climbing to 10800.
maybe was due to snow conditions ?
Was just curious if anyone had to change clutching.
I am installing Ulmer air box, ignition and fuel controler this week so will wait and see what happens after that in terms of adjusting weight

Keep me posted on your top speed... I want my Apex faster and I think it needs the OD machined to get there.

Had sled on a plowed road last year and seen fastest speed I have ever seen on speedo at 195 km/h since I've owned it. Cant say it was over drive by itself as I also install a power commander and ignition controller as well. The power comander definitely added power because on take off rpm bouncing off rev limiter. Picked up 400 rpm.
Going to add some weight to the weight tips this week

I am a big guy 285 without gear. I have had a overdrive on my RX-1 and I have it but not installed for the Apex. My experience was on perfect conditions (plowed ice) I could feel my Rx-1 get into the overdrive and ran 132 on the speedo (yes I know they are off) but I felt like if I was not on perfect conditions I lost speed, like on a snow trail. The Apex has a little more power and with a few adders on an Apex, you might be able to pull into the OD easier and still keep your top speed. Just my .02

Ulmer can machine OD this also... I would use a site sponsor.

Buy a multi angle shock wave helix then you can dial it right in for the rpm you need, what helix are you running , change your primary weight to 66 gram polaris and grind the inside tips a bit so the clear use polaris pins , how much did you take off the primary sheaves and split collar?Just installed over drive clutch, and machined helix for the spring pocket.
