Our small town made it on the News today. We were hit with 4" of rain within an hour today. The small man made creek behind my house grew from 20' wide to 100' wide. A news crew from the 'Peg has footage of mine and my neighbor's back yards.
The water where the truck drives thru in the beginning of the news vid was over 2' deep on the road. Most of the development was impassable for many cars and SUV's and some 4x4s.
Unfortunately many basements flooded from overland flooding and some that had faulty backup valves got the sewer in the basement. We are fortunate as our basement stayed dry.
The rain was coming down sooo hard that I thot it was a blizzard. Could barely make out the outline of houses behind us.
Wish I would of thot of going tubing down the street.

Glad your basement didn't flood. I was hoping that you were gonna take the sled water skipping.
That would have been a lot of fun but I don't think the Town would appreciate the damage from the studs and carbides and the sled is buried deep in the garage.

I have a very good idea what that is like! We got 3 inches in one hour followed by another 3 inches in 6 more hours way back. I didn't get flooded in my house but about 75 to 80% did. All those without backup valves on their poop lines had a hell of a mess. This was the second time everyone was flooded out! Its the reason why no one in this area can get sewer backup insurance without paying through the nose. My garage got about an inch of water on the floor because the water was running into the back of it about 6 inches deep. Garage was poured in two sections (addition added on) so the water was not only coming in the back wall but squirting up between the two slabs.
Local kids where surfing behind 4x4s in the street and local cars and some trucks thought if ya go fast you will make it. Only a few had the sense to slow down to a crawl and idle through! I went for a ride after the first 3 inches and could see water shooting up out of the storm drains on the streets in all the low areas. My old 86 one ton 4x4 with its lift and 33's hardly got wet but I watched vehicle after vehicle slam into the water and flood the engine out. I pushed a 4x4 with my pipe bumper mounted spare tire through the water to high ground, if he would have idled through he would have made it fine! Whats up with that?
