Your max boost level depends on alot of things, not just the ammount of boost.
The age of the motor has some value, as a higher mile motor may not take the stress of more than 6psi, but with the right operating system, you can go a little higher than the levels DirtyDiaper listed above.
Taking the time to run a BOV or by-pass system that is set up correctly, and an ecu piggy back that will control timing is very important if you're looking to push the limits. Being able to retard the timing to control detonation will allow higher boost levels, and avoid running the sled as rich to control it.

With premium fuel 14 psi of boost for my sled. With 118 Klotz it is 23 psi. I also have 3 head gaskets added. The worst thing that you don"t want to happen is spark knock or pinging. That is real hard on pistons and rings. The best thing is to be safe then sorry. use common sense unless you want to rebuild your motor.I went back to stock gearing. Hope this helps.
