Maximum amount of HP out of an Phazer..

If the engine was detonating he was lucky to get one day out of it and not one pull. If you read the sticky on turbo and supercharger reference material you would see that he would have needed fuel with an octaine of about 128 which C-16 is nowhere near. He would have had severe detonation and the rods still held on until the bearing failed which is realy impressive.

Just my opinion but Phazer is short stroke high RPM which is all wrong for turbo motor.
Nytro is way better choice and better handling too.
Turbo on a torque motor is the answer!!

This guy has a good point, and one one seems to have noticed his post. If you are going it coin up and through some boost on it I do not think you should not expect to make a lot more than 140hp. My own feeling is after that it turns into a bomb even if you toss a bunch of upgrades to the motor. If you want power start with something that make power to begin with.

His suggestion is to trade up to a nytro is the way to go, then you have the platform to through a charge at after it starts feeling lame.

Why is it so easy to make 300 reliable horses with the Nytro and 350 reliable horses with the Apex, but impossible to make 180 reliable horses with the Phazer? Did Yamaha realy design this engine that poorly compared to every other engine they manufacture? If all that your looking for is 180 hp I realy don't see the point of buying a sled that weighs 50-100 lbs too much.

The motor is light & small enginered to put out 80hp without a problem and a buzzing 2 cly which is a problem when you want to turbo it, The apex is a beefer 4 cly and will put out 150 hp. Both engines can be pushed past there stock hp but the apex is starting at 150.
