Same spot as mrance111. I clean the area with soap and water. Before I install them I pre-heat the panels with floor spot light and warm up the sticker and wa-la she doesn't come off. I know some guys have trouble getting them to stay there but I have done 5 or 6 sleds in a row and never had a problem. I didn't trim mine I just turned mine to go with the line of the panel.

I did the heat thing too but with a different twist. I heated the spot with a propane portable torch til it just discolored... I was nervous the first time I did too, but 4,000 miles later those puppies stayed put. Just make sure you remove the panels first and dont get it too hot or

I put the stickers on the lower part of the side panels. I sanded the area with low grit paper, cleaned it and heated it up. The stickers will never come off.

Put mine on the behind my feet alongside the running boards. They are very visible unless I have my saddle bags on. (Even then though you can still see them.) Probably not real legal but knock on wood I have not had a problem yet. I did not think I could get them to stick to the plastic but it sounds like you can.
