How is the mid height windshield for wind protection? I have the tall windshield on now but I dont like how it looks, so Im considering to get the mid height for next season.

Do you have the side deflectors on too? Do they make a big difference?

I was thinking the same too. I would like the mid sheld but to look at it, it does not have the flip at the top to deflect the wind up like the high shield.
What a difference the high shield and the side deflectors make from the low low low shield on the MTX.

Agree with Tall windshield taking away from appearance of sled. It is nice to have if you go out on a -30 c morning. It wasn't an issue this year but most winters it is and of course staying home is not an option. As you get older, appearance is less of an issue and comfort is.

mid height
I put the mid height windshield w/side deflectors on right out of the box. The wind protection is ok but I notice when standing up and riding in the deep powder the snow hits you right in the face. I wear leather bibs and jacket and my knees get cold on the really cold days.

I stand probably 1/2 the time and I' m only 5'8" even with tall shield still darn cold. Would need 4 ft windshield to keep warm! So I guess if staying warm is a priority, there's always the couch!

I put on the stock medium shield off a 09 and newer Nytro. Believe it or not, it helped with acceleration and top end. My sled was always slower than my father's before I switch shields. Dead even now. What really helped was the "elephant" handguards that go over the stock guards from Yamaha. This made sled a lot warmer. I can run warmers 2 or 3 bars less than before. Definitely worth the money and sled looks good with the guards and medium shield.

Put on elephant ears as well, work well for keeping upper body out of wind.. Got to try yamaheaters! Just can't say enough about them. Can go with lighter gloves even on cold days. Easy install too!

I currently have the tall windshield. I had all three on. The stock, mid, and now the tall. The tall and mid I have the side deflectors.
With the stock the wind hit me square in the chest. The mid, the wind hit me in the neck/face area. The tall does work good especially on those real cold days. Yeah unfortunately the tall doesn't look as nice as the mid.

Well, thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I think I'll try the mid next year, I have one of those windstopper balaclavas so it shouldn't be too bad.
