I am looking at buying an 03 RX-1 with 7600 miles. Is there anything that I should be concerned about at that mileage, The sled also has an M-10 in it and am wondering if anyone who has ridden an RX-1 with both the stock skid and the M-10 can tell me if it made a big difference or not.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I had an '04 RX-1, and I would NOT buy an '03 or '04 RX-1, or Warrior, with a stock skid in it. I put an Expert-X in it at 5000 miles, much better. But the REAL difference wasn't realized until I had the shocks valved by Excell.
At that mileage, I would change the drive axle, chain-case, and jack-shaft bearings, clutch springs, inspect the bulk head for stress cracks, check the ski spindle housings and A-arms for alignment/bending, and inquire about the oil-consumption rate. I think 1 qt. in 800 - 1000 miles is within spec for that particular year.

Whoa, that reads like you're recommending to replace the drive axle and chain case.
ManhattanMike: He means to change the bearings on the drive axle and in the chaincase.
M10=slow. Good geezer ride, but no transfer and bad top speed.

Thanks, I think it's a good deal at $3495.

OK, here is my opinion. I ride an 03. M10 136. It takes a little time to get it just right. I run the heavier rear spring and an Ohlins with remote res. w/clicker. It rocks over stock. I would like to update it to the airwave, but I think I have my sled sold. I have replaced the drive shaft bearing because of wear. I also have a wide front end kit. MY sled rails. It did take around 8mph offf of the top end, which I really don't care. I have lowered the gears and have the ECP kit and heavy hitters. It will pull the skis. I have never used any oil except when towing another sled. I have many, many other and updated options. 6100 miles, mostly problem free. I will sell you mine for a little more if your interested. Mine is a better deal with all of the upgrades already done. PM me if at all curious or interested. Depending where you are located, I may deliver.
