I bought an rxw in Jan.
From day one , I have had a misfire : popping sound in the exhaust at 4000- 6000rpm.
Two trips to the dealer have yielded that Yamaha has no fix.

The first trip to the dealer : they said they did not hear anything ,but they changed the plugs. This made no difference on my next ride.

The second trip to the dealer: They said they could not hear anything so I went over there. I rode the sled in front of them and it did exactly what I told them. Misfire / popping sound in the exhaust. They heard it loud and clear then the mechanic said " I heard that before but I was not sure if that was what you were talking about".
It only does it at low speed. ( no load ,20-25mph) The sled runs fine above that.

A second call to Yamaha Tech:" Yes there is a problem in the transition to the needle. You can pull the caps of the idle mixture and richen them 1/2 turn but we cannot guarantee a fix".
The dealer said they could do this but it would make it smoke. I already have to open the throttle to get the sled started when warm. It buffs and blows until cleared.

The dealer then rode three other sleds that were in for service . They were both worse than mine. They asked one of the owners about it and he said he had the same problem but it cleared up when he got on the throttle so he didn't worry about it.

If these had the carbs cleaned ----it sounds like TPS-
easy to check...super important @ low end..

Speedy

Sounds exactly like the carbs are out of sync as well. Have your dealer check the sync.

Yes, the dealer said they checked these but I will look into these further.
What gets me is 4 out of 4 machines that they have checked at my dealer are all doing the same thing.

I'd chk the plugs & see how light they are ,then I'd turn fuel screws out 1/4 to1/2 turn then sync the carbs and I'll bet it'd clear up. :rocks:
