Installed my Mo Flow vents for the nose and console. Not sure if I am going to do the side vents yet, but I liked the looks of these and I feel it will give a good inlet and exit for cool air.
I taped and marked off with templates. The only thing I didn't care for was the look of holes under the screen drilled with a hole saw. You can see through the screen slightly in the daylight and seeing the round holes under the screen doesn't look good to me. Round holes just don't fit with the lines and styling of the hood, holes by the clutch cover and lower panels look OK because it fits with the shapes and contours of the side panels but not the hood.
I also didn't want to remove all the plastic under the vent because it felt like it needed some rigidity. So I went with a cross pattern. Adds a decent amount of support under the screen in the event of a heavy snow or some other kind of mild impact. You just have to make sure you line up the horizontal portion with a rivet so it has the extra support on the edges. Cut it out with a jig saw attachment that came with a power drill I had.
Clean out the foam underneath, make sure to remove enough for the rivets and washers. Washers need to sit flush or they will rattle eventually.
Starting to clean up the edges. and finalize the shape of the cross
Just about done, just making sure the edges are smooth and everything is symmetrical
All done, start with the bottom rivet and line it up with the Yamaha logo to center. Then do the center top rivet and finally the edges.
Only thing I would do different is probably get a different color. I am not exactly happy with the shade of blue compared to Yamie Blue. If I had to do it again I would do black or white. I may mask it off and spray some Krylon Fusion White Paint on the screen. The different shades of blue are gonna bug me after a while. But I will let it go for the time being.
The console was easier. You can take off all the plastic under the screen. So its just a matter of taping on the template and cutting away. Then buff edges and your good to start applying rivets.
