I just bought an 07 attack with the EC Ohils in the rear, had a blast love the sled then when covering it for the ride home I found the cable for the shock hanging down with a huge ice ball on it, the size of a grapfruit. I am not sure what to do or where it needs to be it just looked like it could really be a problem or may be it already is. I am looking for advice or a picture of where or how it is supposed to run from the shock up into the sled. I am worreid I am going to have a big problem if I don't get something figured out ASAP.
It may have been cased by all the slush and snow we ran this weekend but I am heading back next weekend and I am worried it will hang up on something and rip out. I have the sled in a freinds heated garage hoping to thaw things and look it over in a day or two. Is this a regular issue?
Any thoughts?

Everything in my suspension is getting iced up. I've been doing a lot of off trail in the past few days. I don't have the EC, mine is the RA but I noticed the cable was damaged during my pre-season maintenance. I can tell you if that gets damaged, shop around. Picked a new one up from Yamaha for $102, later I noticed Royal Distributing had one for $35.
I have some friends that use a product to prevent snow build up on their suspensions and tunnels. No Snow... I believe is the name of it. Apparently it works, maybe you can coat yours with a similar product?

I have the same rear suspension put alot of tie straps on it, so the wire wont hang low and that will pretty much solve that problem

This issue with the EC Ohlins cable gets brought up all the time.
I've followed Yamaha's way a dozen times and ice has still killed the cable over and over. If you tend to get major ice build up in your skid, that cable won't last. Every time I fix the cable I make sure to set the shock's compression exactly where I want it (the EC part controls compression btw), so that when it does break again, at least it's set where I want it.
The EC seemed cool a few years ago, but now I view it as a hassle. The wire is not strong enough to live in that skid with all of that ice.
bjowett from TY here can service Ohlins shocks and he can convert the EC to a clicker. Then the shock would be a dual clicker. I may just have him perform that service the next time he revalves my shock.

i am thinking if i just re connect the cable and set the ec a little stiffer and then remove it again and deal with it later it is my best bet. Will I need to reset anything in the diagnostics? Will it flash a code?
it is the busted right behind the connection 3 inch peice connection on the black cap is fine.
I would love to make this a clicker and be done with it anyone ever done it?

FYI, It requires approx 1v to obtain full soft compression and about 7v to full max compression. When the wire breaks (0v) the valving goes to a mid range adjustment. The shock doesn't remember the last setting, the pod (OCP) does. I had to add a variable power supply to my dyno to test the full range of the compression valving for this shock.
The easiest way to know if your wire is broken is when pushing the mode button and the shock symbol doesn't display. The same thing happens when you forget to plug in the cable when you reinstall the suspension. Don't ask how I know this.

Dangit, so my shock is set at midrange right now as my shock wire is broke again...... Geeez. I'm so sick of that EC, I want to just convert mine to a manual clicker and be done with it.
